Built different, on purpose

There's a skin condition that often prevents me from playing guitar, something I love. Wanting to understand what was triggering it, I attempted to track my food, sleep, symptoms. First I tried doing this by just remembering what I ate, but to no avail. Then I tried to use apps, but every app felt like a chore to enter data into, and all I got back were basic metrics such as calorie counts and sleep scores. I never felt like I was getting closer to an answer. Ultimately, I didn't manage to stick for more than a few weeks to any single app.

But even had I managed to stick with it, I would have been tracking at the wrong level. My food app knew I ate avocado, tomato and cheese, but not that all three are high in histamine. That's the level where real connections can be found. And sometimes histamine-rich foods are fine on their own, until pollen season hits, and suddenly the combination is too much. These kinds of patterns span across nutrition, environment, and your body, and no single app was able to connect them.

So I'm building one that does. Vitalyze tracks across every domain - foods with deep nutritional data, environment, sleep, symptoms - and looks for the relationships between them. Not just what you ate, but what was in it. Not just that you felt bad, but what else was happening that day. Hopefully this will help me and others find the patterns that matter, without guesswork and endless trial and error.
